We were so honored that YARN alums John Corey Whaley, Cecil Castellucci, Mitali Perkins, and Terra Elan McVoy championed YARN!
YARN is the bee’s knees. A strong advocate for voices in young adult literature and a pillar of the YA community. – John Corey Whaley
It’s a brilliant thing to have a place where you can read fresh original short stories by both seasoned YA authors and aspiring teens. YARN is a great tool box for growing up writing. – Cecil Castellucci
With the publishing industry in flux and attention focused on the few young adult blockbusters that become Hollywood adaptations, where is a venue for fresh voices to be heard? New, innovative stories to be told? Creativity, humor, passion, and our sheer delight in writing expressed? That’s where YARN steps up to the plate, and delivers. Debut authors of all ages mix and mingle with established writers and eager readers around the YARN story fire, sharing original essays, fiction and poetry that—for once—isn’t subject to the narrowing whims of the market. – Mitali Perkins
YARN is an excellent resource for both teen readers and writers, and the grown-up ones. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! – Terra Elan McVoy
THANK YOU Corey, Cecil, Mitali, and Terra!
Have your own YARN testimonials? Please share below! What’s YARN meant to you since 2010 (or whenever you discovered us)?
Back in March 2012, I was lucky to have my short story, “Flossie’s Laundry,” published by YARN. And recently, out of the blue, an agent contacted me who’d read the story. She enjoyed it enough to ask if I’d been working on any manuscripts. Perfect timing, because I just completed a novel and was stoked to share it with her.
Although the ms didn’t work out, she invited me to submit future stories and is excited about my ideas. That opportunity would have never happened if I hadn’t been accepted by YARN. So thank you Kerri Majors and everyone here. You guys are awesome!
