Don’t we all want a good laugh? We’re really hoping you’ll send us plenty!
In honor of short story month, we’re thrilled to announce that YARN alum Nisha Sharma, author of the soon-to-be-released “My So-Called Bollywood Life,” will judge our Humor Contest. Please take up the challenge — send us your funniest short stories, or your happy-sad stories, or your humor-with-a-twist stories. Brighten our day, and make us see the world anew.
Contest details:
- Nisha will pick one winning story, to be published in early July. She’ll offer a book to the winner, as well as a critique to each of the finalists.
- Submissions open May 1st and close May 31st. (We will close general submissions just for fiction in the month of May. General submissions will remain open for poems and essays.) Our maximum word count for submissions is 6000 words.
- Please submit your story (one per person please) and a short bio pasted in the body of an email between May 1st and May 31st to: fiction[at]yareview.net Your subject line should be: 2018 Humor Contest. No attachments please! We will announce winners in early July.
Good luck!
I am very interested in this competition. Is there a limit to the number of entries accepted per person?
Hello Carmen,
Thank you for your interest! Yes, the limit of entries per person is one. We will be updating the guidelines shortly to reflect this, so thank you very much for asking and pointing it out to us. Looking forward to seeing you in our inbox.
