Welcome Interns!

Whew.  After reading a record number excellent applications for the PR internship, we have finally decided on TWO wonderful interns for the 2012-2013 year:  Stephanie McKinley and Jessica Cooper.

You can read their detailed bios on the “Meet the Editors & Interns” page, but in brief, Stephanie is a senior at SUNY Plattsburg majoring in English where she also juggles a number of other writing- and YA-related gigs, like teaching and editing.  Jessica is getting her MFA at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and her YA novel was in the top 10 of Amazon’s Breakthrough Novel Awards in 2011.  Both of them are passionate about YA reading, writing, and community, and bring unique gifts that we’re sure will help YARN expand it’s reach in 2012 and 2013.

Welcome Jessica and Stephanie!

If you applied for the internship, THANK YOU.  If you helped spread the word about the internship, THANK YOU.

And please remember that ALL OF YOU play a vital role in YARN’s PR every time you read a story here and share it, or pass along a link, or encourage someone to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.   THANK YOU for all you’ve done and continue to do.

Jessica and Stephanie are already starting some very cool projects, like a YARN Tumblr, so watch out for that and more in the months to come.

What Is YARN?

It's a brilliant thing to have a place where you can read fresh original short stories by both seasoned YA authors and aspiring teens. YARN is a great tool box for growing up writing. - Cecil Castellucci

Imagine. Envision. Write. Revise. Submit. Read.

YARN is an award-winning literary journal that publishes outstanding original short fiction, poetry, and essays for Young Adult readers, written by the writers you know and love, as well as fresh new voices...including teens.

We also believe in feedback, which is why we encourage readers to post comments on pieces that inspire thought, emotion, laughter...or whatever.

So. What's your YARN?
